Kidō Shinsengumi A video game for the PlayStation 2 called Moeyo Ken was released in 2002 and told the story of Shinsengumi, a police force and magical girl variation of Sakamoto Ryunosuke and his illicit companion, Nekomaru. An original video animation (OVA) and a television series were derived from the game. Hiroi Oji, the creator of the Sakura Wars series, came up with the idea for Moeyo Ken. In contrast, Rumiko Takahashi, the creator of Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha, was responsible for the character designs.
